What is a Travel Authorization?

A Travel Authorization allows a minor to travel outside the country without being accompanied by both parents. This document is commonly required by airlines and immigration authorities.

It also applies when a minor travels with only one parent or with a designated third party, such as a relative, friend, or airline escort.

Both parents or legal guardians must formally grant permission, ensuring the child is authorized to travel safely and legally.

Requirements for a Travel Authorization

Among the requirements needed to obtain authorization for minor to travel include the following:

• Valid identification of the parent or guardian granting authorization.

• Full name of the minor.

• Date of birth of the minor.

• Full name of the accompanying person.

• Flight and travel information.

Validity of the Travel Authorization

The Travel Authorization is valid only for the duration of the trip. Once the minor returns, the document automatically becomes invalid.
